The Boston Latin School Junior Classical League (BLSJCL) is an organization focused on the study of the classical civilizations of Greece and Rome, as well as their impact on the modern world. BLSJCL is a local chapter in the greater organizations of the Massachusetts Junior Classical League (MAJCL) and the National Junior Classical League (NJCL).

BLSJCL holds an incredibly important role in the Boston Latin School community, and is the largest extracurricular student group in the school. BLSJCL also contributes greatly to the National Junior Classical League, where it was recognized as the largest local organization of the JCL in the nation.
During the course of the year, BLSJCL participates in various events, both organized locally, state-wide, and across the nation. We host events in our own facilities throughout the year, such as the Pumpkin Painting, the BLSJCL Certamen Tournament, and the Lupercalia Bash. We also attend events hosted by the MAJCL, such as Kick Off and Classics Day. We attend MAJCL State Convention in late spring. Finally, BLSJCL sends delegates to NJCL Convention, held in various states and universities across the country. This past year, BLSJCLers took the spotlight in Indiana University Bloomington during the last week of July, winning awards and prizes across all categories and making our school and state proud.

The different contests and competitions within the JCL are diverse and plentiful. Students participate in events ranging from Graphic Arts, where they use their artistic abilities, to Academics, where they demonstrate their knowledge, and even to Olympika, where they show their athletic skills. Members can also participate in various speaking and writing events, known as the Creative Arts, and Certamen, a fast-paced quiz game about many aspects of classical culture and history.
